OVERVIEW
#DicktatorDon
, was a peice of political art, all be humourous in nature, that was my response to Donald Trump's comment with respect to “grabbing women by the pussy”.

#DicktatorDon is a felt-fabric effigy of Trump and in 2016 I hand-made eighty of them which I then gave out to journalists, members of the public, and those celebrities who had expressed outrage at his comment.

In order to foster a sense of empowerment in the viewer, #DicktatorDon’s was designed to incorporate a simple electronic circuit, therefore, should you choose to stab him in the groin area with a pin, you would complete an electronic circuit which would result in his eyes lighting up. By creating a ‘feedback loop’ a sense of autonomy could be acheived. There is something very rewarding about taking an action and having a response to that action, allbeit, a manufactured one.

As with all interactive art, the ‘viewer’ becomes ‘participant’ or even a co-creator of the work.

By mass-producing these felt-effigies, it suggests that Trump is just one of many wo/men who hold the same views he aspouses, that there are swathes of people that are
“all the same”.

Trump’s organisation seeing a merchandizing opportunity for themselves started producing MAGA hats. #DicktatorDon has an air of merchandizing about him. There is even a limited edition!

EXHIBITIONS
#DicktatorDon has been exhibited a few times, all in a slightly different way, but always with the opportunity to spend time jabbing him with a pin, should the viewer wish to.
