November 23, 2017

Cybersalon will be hosting their event at Newspeak House on the opening night of "Bad News" an exhibition looking at media manipulation.

What is Cybersalon?
Cybersalon is a think tank on digital futures, we’ve been running monthly events on digital arts and culture since 1997. Our events attract a wide range of people, entrepreneurs, technologists, hackers, activists, government officials, business leaders, academics, artists, creatives and designers.
Cybersalon members produce research and insights on a range of topics, from big data, quantified self to cyborgs, focusing on the digital revolution.

Review: Santiago Sierra - Impenetrable Structure

November 22, 2017

At the Lisson Gallery, London, the man behind me waits; he must think it’s 2002 again. In that year Sierra denied people access to the gallery by blocking its entrance on the opening night with a wall of corrugated steel.

Yuri Patterson and data

October 19, 2017

A piece in an article I read amused me as I once worked (after graduating with a BA in Photography from UCA in the early 90's) for a private investigations company called Hogan and Co.

Trying new exhibtion layouts of work

October 3, 2017

I have been looking into alternative ways to show Trump and it was suggested to me by my MA in Fine Art tutors that I show the making of him. I turned up to a crit having failed to make all 280 of him with him in zip lock see though bags. Each bad denoted how far he had gone in the process of being made. He has half dressed in some and missing eyebrows in the next. He looked ridiculous. He looked like some bit a merchandising, the whole set up demeaned him in some way. It was suggested to me that I exhibit him like that. So I did.  I must say I was deeply upset thought because people were stealing him from the table, not appreciative of the fact he was part of an art installation and not some free hand out gift from the convention. There were too few invilgilators too which did not help with security issues. I even had one woman (I was told this) sit and make eighteen of him at my workstation thinking she was helping. She did indeed make them very well, they are quite fiddly to make, but she did indeed make them incorrectly.

I will know for next time but I did enjoy exhibiting him in this way.

Workshop: Making a Mould for a gun

September 6, 2017

There are many way in which you can make a mould and the material you use depends on many things. Some moulds like silicone ones are durable and ideal for objects you want to cast over and over again, however silicone is relatively expensive in comparison another casting material - plaster of paris. I decided to make a two part mould from silicone for a variety of reasons. I wanted a mould that would last a long time, I intend to make a lot and because silicone is so flexible it is easier to work as it can flex round the object making it much easier to remove from the mould.
